Do my previous college credits count?
Transfer of credit
N.C.B.C. will transfer previous college credit toward either of its two degrees programs. For the two-year degree, up to 45 quarter units (30 semester units) can be transferred. For the four-year degree, up to 135 quarter units (90 semester units) can be transferred.

Students who already possess a four-year degree from another college will find it easy to earn an additional four-year Bachelor degree in Biblical Studies. N.C.B.C. can transfer up to three years of qualifying prior credit, meaning that the student need only take 45 quarter units (15 classes) from N.C.B.C. to receive their additional degree. “Qualifying prior credit” means that the course work falls into on the following categories that have relevance to Christian Ministry: Psychology, Sociology, Natural Science, Computer Science, Accounting, English, History, Language, Philosophy, Communication, Business, Graphic Design and Music. Students who already possess their two-year degree (or comparable amount of units) need only take 90 quarter units (30 classes) to receive their four-year degree.

Students with more than 90 units, but less than 135 units can also transfer those units, assuming they meet the stated requirements:

TRANSFERABLE UNITS MUST:

1. If units come from a college in California, that school must be approved or given formal exempt status by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education or accredited through a national accrediting agency.

2. If units come from a college out of the state of California, that school must be recognized by that state’s department of higher education. Schools in question will be reviewed by the Academic Committee.

3. Units must be considered “general education” in nature, or related to one of the social sciences, directly or indirectly related to the field of ministerial arts.

4. Be verified by the appropriate sealed transcript.

Life experience
NCBC values the experience gained through “on-the-job-training.” Five different classes can be taken which give credit for work experience already completed. These courses include:

PM 301/Experience in Christian Education, 3 units
PM 302/Experience in Youth Ministry, 3 units
PM 303/Experience in Adult Ministry, 3 units
PM 304/Experience in Church Administration, 3 units
PM 305/Experience in Church Planting, 3 units

Students may take up to 2 courses from these five offered. The following stipulations apply:

The student must have served a minimum of 72 hours in that particular field, under the supervision of a recognized minister of that local church.

The student must write a 1000 word paper, describing what was involved, what was learned, what was done, and principles discovered to prepare the student for future involvement in that field.

The paper must be signed off by a recognized minister of that local church.

The papers are turned in to the Academic Dean for review and grade processing.

The student must still pay the full tuition for that course.
